Better luck next time…I hope!

I tried, with moderate success, to get sharp pictures of some dragonflies on my recent visit to Penitentiary Glen Reservation. There were dragons galore, constantly on the move, swooping over the pond, and flitting from place to place, always lighting some place new, only to lift off when I turned my lens toward them. They seemed to be very restless. Maybe it was the 90 degree heat, the bright sun, and high humidity, or the persistent breeze. Whatever it was,  I was not happy with the outcome of my hour at the pond. Here are a few of the picture I captured on my memory card:

I think my best plan is to return to the pond another day soon, a day that isn’t nearly as hot and humid, for another dragonfly photoshoot. Hopefully I’ve learned something from this experience, and I’ll have “better luck next time.”

I’m running a day behind with my posts this week. My next post should be on Thursday or Friday. I hope you will join me then to see what we can find along the trail. There’s always something new.

Thanks for being here.

Penitentiary Glen

Penitentiary Glen is another of the Lake County MetroParks. I don’t go there often because it is on the way out to the Arboretum, which is where I usually end up when I head in that direction; however, it has some good trails. I only had enough energy for a short walk, so the trail around the pond behind the headquarters building was perfect. It includes meadows, a bog, and a bridge from which I could focus my lens on water-dwelling critters. In addition to the frog at the top of the post, here are the pictures I captured along that trail:

It was a short, but very satisfying, walk because there was so much to see. I’m glad you came along today to check it out.

See you soon.

Celebrating spring!

A week has passed by since I decided to (mostly) post one picture per day until I caught up with my blog posts. Today I am celebrating spring (and the end of my week of posting solitary pictures) by sharing a little gallery. After my morning walk in Chagrin River Park, I decided to go farther afield in search of some Eastern bluebirds that I heard were hanging out at Penitentiary Glen (PenGlen). They weren’t! Or at least there were no bluebirds in sight today. However, it was a nice but nippy spring morning, and I was happy with the pictures I brought home from my trail walks. I hope you enjoyed this taste of the trail.

See you soon!
