Ah, now I figured it out. When you clicked on this specific picture and commented, the comment appeared in the comment section for that picture, but not the main comment section at the bottom of the blog post. It is definitely the best way to comment on one specific picture in the gallery, and I approved your comment when I saw it in my admin screen, but I had to do a little searching to find where you posted the comment. If you go back to the picture and click on it, the comment should appear, along with this comment that I am typing now under the violet or variable dancers. Mystery solved. Thanks, Roz. You will still get the message that your comments are waiting for approval, but I will see them each day when I check and I will approve them. Eventually, as you continue commenting, the message will stop appearing, and your comments will be automatically approved.

These are called either violet or variable dancers depending on the field guide (they keep changing the names of things, it’s hard to keep up.)
